Dr. Md. Shamimul Haque Choudhury is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC). He began his academic journey at Mirzapur Cadet College, completing his SSC and HSC in 1998 and 2000 respectively. He earned both his BSc and MSc degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 2006 and 2012. He completed his Ph.D. in Organic-Inorganic Solar Cells from the Nagoya Institute of Technology, Japan, in 2017 under the prestigious MEXT scholarship.
Dr. Choudhury started his teaching career in 2007 at the University of Development Alternative and joined IIUC in 2008. He was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2012 and to Associate Professor in 2018. He served as Chair of the EEE department (2019–2021), Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering (2022–2024), and Head of the IT Division for two years.
With over 17 years of academic experience, Dr. Choudhury has published more than 70 scholarly articles in reputed journals and conferences, including Scopus-indexed and ISI-listed publications. He was twice nominated for the Best Researcher Award during his Ph.D. tenure. As Dean, he launched a faculty research journal, developed an online class monitoring system, renovated laboratories, and played a vital role in accreditation and OBE activities. He also co-chaired the International Conference ICISET 2024.
